This page explains the technical information of [Hybrid Connect].

1. Overview

“Hybrid connection” is a service for connecting customer facilities and services/zones of SAKURA internet using L2 connection on a closed network. Using hybrid connection enables local connection with the SAKURA Cloud and other services such as SAKURA dedicated servers on a low-latency network. (When a housing service is not connected, support may be possible using the lower-priced Bridge connection .)

The front end uses SAKURA Cloud, which provides outstanding cost-performance and flexibility. The back end has a SAKURA dedicated server with superior processing capability. Furthermore, there is a redundant system between zones. In addition to an easy-to-use cloud and exclusive outstanding performance, hybrid connection achieves a system with stability through sorting of zones.

2. Menu and prices

The service menu currently offered and the prices are as follows.

When not connected to housing, only basic fees for hybrid connection are incurred.
Also, only one contract is necessary when connecting to multiple services.

Supply is performed via a housing physical line of 1 Gbps (best effort). There is redundancy and the same fees are incurred.
*Our company will make a separate estimate in the case of 10 Gbps connection.

3. Detailed specifications

This is a service for local connection of customer facilities and services/zones of SAKURA internet using L2 connection on a closed network.
Basic fees for hybrid connection are incurred for one contract only even when connecting to multiple zones.

L2 connection is used between local switches of each service. When connecting devices via a housing service, please house the line via the router.

Attention

  • At the time of housing connection

    • When connecting to housing, please submit the network structure diagram (physical/logical), estimated traffic amount, etc., before placing an order for service. Depending on the structure, there are cases in which service provision is not possible.
    • Connection via hybrid connection must always use receipt via the router and networks must be divided.

*When you want redundancy at the housing, you can use the multichassis LAG (static/LACP).
*Another possibility is an Active/Standby structure using VRRP and HSRP by the customer without using LAG.

Types of redundancy for housing

Multichassis LAG (Static)

This method confirms opening by viewing linkup for the opposite port.
Connect directly between the SAKURA device and customer router.
*Note that there is no changeover at the time of malfunction of a router if an L2 switch, etc., exists beween the device and router. Please consider using an LACP in order to enable changeover. Two lines with LAG structure are provided from SAKURA.
At the customer device that will be connected, multichassis LAG support is required.

Multichassis LAG (with LACP)

This method confirms opening by sending an LACP packet.
Connect directly between the SAKURA device and customer router.
Two lines with LAG structure are provided from SAKURA.
At the customer device that will be connected, multichassis LAG (LACP) support is required.

Active-Standby

Connect directly between the SAKURA device and customer router.
Redundancy via VRRP, etc., at the customer router (L3 switch) is required.
Connect directly between the SAKURA device and customer router. When an L2 switch exists between the device and router, a loop will occur and caution is required.

4. How to apply

The flow of the application is as follows.

When using hybrid connection, use the following section to enter the required items in the application form for hybrid connection usage. Then print the form, affix your personal seal, and then send the form.

*When applying for hybrid connection via the housing service, physical wiring may be necessary in some cases. In that case, please also submit an “Application Form for Hook-up of Dedicated Wiring.” If an application form is necessary, forms can be downloaded from the member menu.
*When using housing service at Dojima IDC, we cannot accept written application for connection with the building floors other than the 14th floor. Please consult with our sales staff.

Supplementary information on completing application forms

Housing

The e-mail regarding rack opening lists the service code (12-digit number) and rack number for the target rack. Enter the code and number.

SAKURA dedicated server

Click [SAKURA Member Menu] – [Contract Information] and search for the dedicated server contract. Next, click [Server Settings] to navigate to the control panel of the dedicated server.
Click [Network] and then select the target switch in the local network. Then, enter [Zone] and [Switch Code].

Sakura cloud

Access the SAKURA Cloud control panel. Click [IaaS] – [Switch] and then select the target switch. Next, enter [Resource ID] (12-digit number).

5. Other cautions

Concerning contracts

  • The provision of this service only targets connection for the same member ID and the same account. It does not support connection between different member IDs and accounts.
  • It is only possible to connect one of the following for the target switch: hybrid connection, bridge connection, or local router.
  • This service is for connection between local segments and services currently under contract.
  • In order to apply for this service, it is necessary to prepare(*1) a switch for the service for which you want connection.
  • For application, it is necessary to execute a contract for two or more different services. It does not support connection between the same services. (*2)

SAKURA dedicated server: Please specify settings for the local network (no fees) at the control panel.
SAKURA Cloud: Please apply for a switch (fees charged) from the control panel.
Remote housing: Connect with the switch of the rack being provided. Application by the customer is not required.
Housing: Separate support for each customer. For details, please contact our sales staff.
SAKURA VPS: Please specify settings for a switch (no fees) at the control panel.

*2 Regarding connection for the same service, you can specify settings at switch in each service.

Concerning bandwidth items

  • Because it is a shared line, the bandwidth will be offered on best effort.
  • Bandwidth between the switch and server is restricted depending on the amount of memory loaded at the server. For details, please refer to the FAQ Are there bandwidth restrictions on switches? .

Regarding loop detection at the time of housing connection

  • We will periodically send a packet for loop detection.
  • If a loop is detected, the port automatically goes down at the hybrid connection housing device.
  • For port recovery, the customer must contact our company. After confirming the situation, our company will perform recovery procedures.
