Remote desktop plan

1. About the remote desktop plan

SAKURA Cloud provides Windows Server for Remote Desktop as an archive preinstalled with antivirus software and a remote desktop license (RDS SAL) which enables use of Windows Server as a virtual desktop. We also provide Windows Server for Remote Desktop (with MS Office) as an option that includes Microsoft Office.

One license that can be used for remote desktop connection is added to the archive. Use as a virtual desktop is possible immediately after creating the server.

2. About the RDS SAL license

SAKURA Cloud provides an archive supporting remote desktop; however, RDS SAL is only included for one person. If you are considering having multiple users for a single server, you need to apply for the number of RDS SAL equivalent to the number of users.

The price of the required RDS SAL license differs depending on whether or not Microsoft Office is installed at the connection destination server.

It is not possible to connect to the Windows Server for Remote Desktop (with MS Office) via a Windows RDS SAL license. However, you can connect to servers for any plan via a Windows RDS SAL+Office SAL license.

  • Please apply for the number of remote desktop licenses (RDS SAL) equivalent to the number of users.
  • If the number of RDS SAL applications is insufficient, our company may charge you separately for the pending applications.

How to apply for a license

The two methods for applying for RDS SAL are as follows.

Apply for a license at the same time as creating a server

When creating a server, you can display an application form for remote desktop licenses by selecting Windows Server for Remote Desktop, or by selecting Windows Server for Remote Desktop (with MS Office) as public archive.

If you select an archive for remote desktop only, you can only apply for a Windows RDS SAL license. If you select an archive for remote desktop (with MS Office), you can only apply for a Windows RDS SAL + Office SAL license.

Apply for a license only

If there is an increase in the number of users connecting to Windows Server via remote desktop for monthly usage, please apply for new licenses as necessary. Click the [Add] button at the top-right of the license screen to display a dialog box for adding licenses.

Enter required items and configure settings for each item in the dialog box.

  • Name: Enter the name attached to the license you are adding.
  • License: Select the type of license that you want to add.
  • Number of licenses: Select the number of licenses that you want to add (possible to add up to 50 licenses at once).
  • Option: If creation of a license is started when the [Assign Sequential Numbers After Name] option is enabled, the name of each license is changed to “‘Name’ + ‘Number’” (the number starts from 1 and increases sequentially for each license added).

After you finish entering information and configuring settings, click the [Create] button at the bottom of the dialog box to finish adding the license and update to the license list screen.

Deleting a license

The authority for unnecessary licenses will be cleared when the licenses are deleted. At the list screen, insert a check into the checkbox for the license that you want to delete, and then click the [Delete] button at the top-right of the screen to delete the license.

Usage Cautions

  • License for which you applied at the time of creating a server is not automatically deleted when deleting the server.
  • If a license becomes unnecessary, please delete that license separately from the license management screen.

3. About increasing the number of simultaneous connections

If you want 50 or more simultaneous connections to a single server where the remote desktop plan has been installed, please use the member inquiry form to contact our company.

Attention

About servers created based on archives prior to March 17, 2016

  • The standard number of simultaneous connections for the OS is two connections
  • If you would like three or more connections, please use the following inquiry form to contact our company.
  1. Log in to Members’ menu and then access Inquiry form .
  2. Select [SAKURA Cloud] for [Service Name]. (Please leave the [Server Name], [Domain Name], and [IP Address] sections blank. Also, leave subsequent items for [Customer PC/Internet Environment] blank.)
  3. Select [How to Use/Support] for [Inquiry Type].
  4. Enter [Increasing the Number of Remote Desktop Simultaneous Connections] in the [Inquiry Subject].
  5. In the [Inquiry Details] section, enter details in accordance with the following template.

6. Click the [Next] button, confirm details, and then send the inquiry form.
7. After confirming the order details, our company will configure settings for the customer environment and then notify the customer once work is finished.

Cautions for increasing the number of simultaneous connections

  • We will log in to the customer control panel and perform work.
  • We will log in to Windows on the target server and then perform work.
  • When configuring settings, it may be necessary for us to restart the target server.
  • We may refuse to perform work depending on the contractual status of the OS plan or RDS SAL license currently in use.

4. Cautions for using the remote desktop plan

*Windows RDS SAL is required for each user connecting via remote desktop (there is no limit on the number of connection destination servers).
