Windows disk modification

This page explains specifications related to the disk modification function for Windows on SAKURA Cloud.

1. Overview

The disk modification function is a function for specifying initial settings for the disk connected to the server and for specifying/changing settings such as the IP address and password for the login account. The disk modification function for Windows is only activated when using Windows public archive and selecting [Create Server] from the control panel.

The disk modification function for Windows cannot be used in the following cases.

  • When cloning the server
  • When copying a disk
  • When creating a separate disk and then connecting that disk to a server at a later time
  • When reinstalling an OS to a disk
  • When a created disk is reconnected to a different server and modifying the disk contents to match the server

*This function is guaranteed to work on public archives provided by SAKURA internet.

2. Items which can be set by the disk modification function

  • IP address
  • Subnet mask
  • Default gateway
  • Priority DNS server (*Note 1)
  • Alternate DNS server (*Note 1)

*Note 1: In SAKURA Cloud, two IP addresses are prepared for [Recommended Name Server for Region] for each region. The first IP address for [Recommended Name Server for Region] is set to the priority DNS server, and the second IP address for [Recommended Name Server for Region] is set to the alternate DNS server.

3. How to use

Perform the following procedures to use the disk modification function.

Control panel behavior changes depending on the NIC connection destination.

For shared segments

There is no entry form on the control panel. The global IP address, netmask, default gateway, and DNS server are automatically assigned.

For switch

Entry sections are displayed for the IP address, netmask, and gateway. The IP address is entered manually.

  • Simple mode
  • Normal creation screen

For router + switch

Entry sections are displayed for the IP address, netmask, and gateway. The IP address is selected from a pull-down menu.
